Conditions of Eligibility

A

  1. Master’s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) in a concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university. Relaxation of marks shall be in accordance with Clauses (iii) & (iv) in the Notes below.
  2. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR. Exemption from NET shall be granted in accordance with Clauses (i) & (ii) in the Notes below.

The Ph.D. degree has been obtained from a foreign University/Institution with a ranking among top 500 in the world University ranking (at any time) by any one of the following: (1) Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) (ii) The Times Higher Education (THE) or (iii) The Academic Ranking Of World Universities (ARWU) of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai).

Notes:

  1. The candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standard and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulation, 2009, or the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil/Ph.D. Degree) Regulation, 2016, and their subsequent amendments from time to time, as the case may be, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET for recruitment and appointment of Lecturer/Assistant Professor in the Government Colleges.
  2. The clearing of NET/SLET/SET shall not be required for candidates in such disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET accredited test has not been conducted.
  3. A relaxation of 5% marks shall be allowed at the Bachelor’s as well as at the Master’s level for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Other Backward Classes (OBC) (noncreamy layer).
  4. A relaxation of 5% may be provided (from 55% to 50% of the marks) to the Ph.D. Degree holders, who have obtained their Master’s Degree prior to 19 September, 1991.

Age & Relaxation

  1. Upper age limit is 32 years as on 01.01.2025 with usual relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST candidate. There is no age limit for candidates who are already in Meghalaya Government service provided they entered services within the prescribed age limit.
  2. For those Candidates who have already applied for the post of Lecturer/Assistant Professor in History through the MPSC advertisement No. MPSC/ADVT-54/1/2020-2021/97, dated 10th February 2023 the upper age limit would be protected.

Payment of Application Fees

Candidates who wish to apply may pay the application fees using any one the following mode of payment only:-

Kindly note that an additional amount in the form of Bank’s commission may be applicable depending upon the mode of payment. The amount once deposited shall not be refunded or adjusted against any other purpose.
